In 2017, President Donald J. Trump announced that the United States Government would not “accept or allow Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military.” We applauded President Trump for his decision and predicted that liberals would fight the ban on transgenders in the military.
Released in February 2018, the Department of Defense Report Recommendations on military service would disqualify transgenders “with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria” unless:
- They have been “stable” for 36 consecutive months “in their biological sex” and are deemed deployable.
- Current service members who were diagnosed with gender dysphoria under the previous administration may receive “medically necessary treatment” and continue to serve in their role.
As expected, legal challenges have been waged and House Democrats have now introduced H. RES. 124 which expresses “opposition to banning service in the Armed Forces by openly transgender individuals.” A vote is expected to take place in the House tomorrow around 10 a.m. ET.
Call your representative today to express your views on this resolution which disapproves of President Trump’s efforts to ensure our military is both safe and ready.
