Leading feminist and ERA proponent admits measure’s defeat in 1986; declares proponents must start over.
St. Louis, MO: Recently located footage has revealed a bombshell admission from one of the Equal Rights Amendment’s most staunch advocates, Gloria Steinem.
“Steinem admits to Oprah’s audience in 1986 that the ERA is expired — they must start over,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “She’s absolutely right and her fellow pro-ERAers would do well to listen to her advice, the DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel, and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg! They have all recognized that the Equal Rights Amendment is dead — expired long ago at its recognized ratification deadline.”
