Democrat move to change rules, subvert legislative system is blocked even by ERA Co-sponsors.
St. Louis, MO: Late yesterday the Arizona Senate blocked a rules change attempt by Democrats that would have brought a vote to the floor on the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. Even several Republican co-sponsors of ERA voted against this rules change.
“We are grateful for the solid conservatives, particularly Senate Judiciary Chairman Eddie Farnsworth, who fought against this in Arizona and the Republicans who did not allow this underhanded rules change,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “We are especially thankful for the leadership of our wonderful Arizona Phyllis Schlafly Eagles leader Susan Ellsworth. Susan is well connected and has an inspiring passion for defending our nation and our Constitution! Her guidance in Arizona certainly made these efforts possible.
“Liberals seem to get it, but state legislatures recognize that the long-expired ERA ratification fight is of no use. The American people soundly rejected ERA in the 1970s, and the deadline for ratification has long passed.”
