Joe Biden promised America that he would “defeat the NRA” by imposing more federal gun control restrictions on every legal gun owner in America.
Patriots should know that they have every reason to believe he will follow through on his promise. All he needs is a crisis to exploit for his party’s agenda. Let’s not wait to start defending our constitutionally-protected liberties. If we’re going to win the war of ideas, we need to be able to cut through the political doublespeak coming from the left.
Here are the top three terms the left uses to weaponize words on the gun issue.
First, they love to toss around the term “assault weapon.” Does anyone know what an “assault weapon” even is? It depends on which politician you ask. Some say an assault weapon must be fully automatic, like a machine gun. Of course, those are already almost impossible for a private citizen to own. Others say an “assault weapon” is any firearm that can hold more than ten bullets, which is the vast majority of the firearms in America. Remember that “assault weapon” has no real universal definition. It’s a leftist scare tactic.
Similarly, the term “AR-15” is used to scare people. Unlike an assault weapon, an AR-15 has a real definition. It’s a specific type of firearm. However, despite what the left will tell you, the “AR” in “AR-15” does not stand for “assault rifle.” It stands for “Armalite Rifle,” after the company that first developed it.
A third term to watch out for is “semi-automatic.” Leftists rattle it off to confuse people, but it actually only means that one bullet is fired every time you pull the trigger. That differentiates semi-automatic weapons from fully-automatic weapons, which keep firing bullets as long as you hold the trigger down. Again, fully-automatic weapons are things like machine guns, which are not legally available to most people.
Leftists have a strategic advantage over conservatives on the gun issue. They don’t have to understand what they are talking about. They just have to sound scary.
Conservatives can easily counter their scare tactics with a basic understanding of what guns are and how they work. Study up!
