Washington, D.C.: “The Supreme Court delivered a great win for religious liberty and free speech Monday,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Most of the headlines this week may have gone to leakers and abortion, but a unanimous High Court decision against Boston is worth talking about!
“Hal Shurtleff and his organization, Camp Constitution, were denied an application to fly the Christian flag in front of Boston City Hall on Constitution Day, September 17, 2017. This denial came despite the city’s 284 prior consecutive approvals. Hal took it all the way to the Supreme Court and won!
“The City of Boston is found to have discriminated against Mr. Shurtleff because of his ‘religious viewpoint.’ This is an important unanimous win from the High Court. Conservatives must have the determination to fight for our rights like Hal and Camp Constitution. Let their perseverance and victory be a lesson and encouragement to us all!”
