Washington, D.C.: Despite fake news coverage, the Supreme Court’s opinion on the 2020 Census this morning is, in fact, a victory for the Trump administration, but they must act swiftly and accurately.
“Don’t believe fake news headlines — the High Court’s narrow ruling clearly allows the Commerce Department to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “The only caveat is that Commerce justifies the question with a different argument than previously presented.
“A more important issue now is whether the Trump administration will allow the ACLU, bureaucratic swamp monsters, and an Obama judge to run out the clock. Census forms must not be printed until this issue has been resolved! Commerce Secretary Ross must push forward at the district court level with full speed so our next representative reapportionment will treat American citizens justly.”
Ed Martin and John Schlafly are available for interviews on this subject for the rest of the week. To schedule an interview: Joanna Spilger, joanna@phyllisschlafly.com. All other media inquiries: Ryan Hite, ryan@phyllisschlafly.com.
