Washington, D.C.: Today the House of Representatives under Nancy Pelosi voted to encourage jurisdictions to allow illegal aliens to vote in America. Democrats have now publicly signaled they will fight for voting rights for the many millions of illegal immigrants and other non citizens.
“This is absolutely stunning and disgraceful,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “While many people immigrate to America and seek to make a new life here, citizenship is a particular privilege that comes both with advantages and duties — chief among them is to vote and take part in our democratic republic.
“The message Nancy Pelosi and her House cronies have now sent is for illegal immigrants to come one, come all, and bring socialism and a far left shift. Make no mistake, these voters would vote for more government. Pelosi and the Democrat Party have launched a full assault on the process of assimilation, a key element of our American way.”
