Washington, D.C.: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) today announced that he supports the impeachment rules change resolution proposed by Sen. Josh Hawley. Hawley is seeking to amend Senate rules to dismiss the articles of impeachment against Donald Trump due to lack of prosecution (House inaction).
“This is a great move and we’re grateful Senator McConnell is stepping out in support,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “The theatrics and partisan hatred flowing from the Democrat-led House are shameful. It’s up to the Senate to return us to constitutional sanity, and Senator Hawley’s resolution does just that.
“We are pleased that Leader McConnell is willing to back President Trump as he continues to fight for American citizens and interests. In the face of bitter partisanship, we need legislators who are willing to stand by conviction and reason.”
