St. Louis, MO: While churches in France are still smoldering from vicious and violent attacks in the last few weeks, a coordinated series of bombings unleashed carnage and devastation in churches and other major public places in Sri Lanka yesterday. Christians celebrating Easter Sunday were mowed down in churches in multiple cities by suicide bombers.
“This Easter tragedy in Sri Lanka weighs heavy on Christians worldwide,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Christians and their houses of worship have increasingly been the target of violence and death at the hands of terrorists.
“Particularly disturbing is that this is happening more in western countries as well. These are dark times and require leaders who are willing to stand up and speak to the problem — leaders who will address the genocide of Christians in the middle east, the burning of churches in France, and now these bombings in Sri Lanka for what they are. They are the work of extremists who seek the extermination of the Christian faith.”
