Washington, D.C.: President Donald Trump celebrated an historic milestone in the federal judiciary, confirming his 158th federal judge since taking office in 2017. This is the most confirmed judges in a first term of any president since 1980.
“President Trump has delivered amazing results on one of his most important promises of the 2016 campaign,” said Ed Martin, Phyllis Schlafly Eagles president. “He is transforming our federal judiciary for generations, putting in place younger judges who are strong constitutionalists. Their impact on the court will not only be seen and felt immediately, but for years longer than President Trump will be in public service. Time and again he has delivered on his promises to the American people. Chief among them is his results delivered on judicial appointments.”
Now 1-in-4 active judges on the U.S. Courts of Appeals has been appointed by President Trump. He is tipping the balance of most circuits away from judicial activists in favor of Constitutional originalists.
“Even after this milestone, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted out more nominees with recommendation to the Senate body,” said Martin. “Senator Lindsey Graham is pursuing this excellent, constitutional agenda on judges with all speed and we wish him continued success. We encourage Majority Leader McConnell to continue pushing these important confirmations to the calendar.”
