Washington, D.C.: The Democratic-led House of Representatives is expected to vote on a so-called “War Powers” resolution tomorrow, condemning President Trump and demanding he terminate any military action against Iran.
“This is political theater at its grandest and most ignorant,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Speaker Pelosi and her caucus have truly lost touch with legislative precedent. They are preparing to vote tomorrow to supposedly restrain a president they claim will lead us to the brink of war.
“In fact, that president has shown incredible prudence in responding appropriately to the bullying of the lead sponsor of terror in the world. President Trump’s statement this morning showed the restraint and dignity expected of the leader of the free world. Trump’s swift military action against one of the world’s most feared and vile military leaders leaves no room for question of his resolve to put American lives first — violence against us will not be tolerated.”
Martin concluded: “Someone should provide a brief Congressional history lesson for the Democratic majority. Congress has, in fact, authorized the President to conduct military operations inside Iraq. This has been established for (too) many years and now three administrations. Democrats are showing their cards in a most obvious way. They simply can’t politically choose which Presidents do and don’t have authority to stand up for American lives. These dirty tricks and political hit jobs aren’t fooling the American people.”
