St. Louis, MO: As New Zealand reels from a horrific, evil act of violence this week, those in power are quickly pouncing on an opportunity to disarm their citizenry. Today, the NZ Prime Minister announced that their nation has now officially banned “military-style assault” weapons and parts from civilian use, along with certain sized magazines.
“The socialist response to this despicable tragedy is very disturbing,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Bans and restrictions on weapons that bureaucrats have arbitrarily chosen as ‘more dangerous’ or ‘specifically for the taking of lives’ are not not effective, and serves only to disarm citizens and make them subject to the authority of their government. The real goal of gun control activists across the world, particularly here in America, is not to make gun ownership safer, but to remove all access to firearms and disarm citizens. This has been the goal of all tyrannical governments in history, particularly Communism.
“Our founding fathers wisely understand the heart of this matter. Men do not commit atrocities simply because of the tools they can access, but because of their depravity and sinful nature. Preserving the tools for self-defense, like firearms, is the only way to give good and righteous people the tools needed to stop that evil. In today’s world, this idea on firearms is uniquely American. Radical leftist socialists in this country — many of whom are running for President now — understand that distinction and are conspicuously silent while New Zealand moves to disarm its citizens.”
