What You Need to Know is that, as we rush towards a government shutdown, the only thing that matters right now is stopping the influx at the border, and the rush about the shutdown will define the lines in the sand on political matters. The narrative machine is making the shutdown to seem Republicans are bad and racist for the shutdown. John Schlafly, co-author of the John and Andy Schlafly Report, joins Ed to discuss this week’s column, ‘Supreme Court Caves to Left on Racial Quotas.’ The state of Alabama must now redraw its Congressional so that it has at least two districts that are majority African American. There is no precedence for this in voting rights law or the Constitution, John states. There is no reason why an African American cannot be the House Representative of a white district, so there is certainly no point to the Supreme Court’s order for Alabama. But the left wants to ensure that only a black Democrat can be elected in a black district.
Craig Shirley, author and Presidential historian, joins Ed to discuss his new book, The Search for Reagan. Ed and Craig talk about Reagan’s march towards the presidency and the way that his legacy informs U.S. politics today. Craig also discusses last night’s GOP Presidential debate at the Reagan Library.
Wrap Up: In defense of Robert Menendez, Democrat Senator from New Jersey, because everyone else is doing it! Instead of hiring his son to run his influence peddling scheme (like President Biden), he decided to roll up his sleeves and do it himself (allegedly). But more than anything, we must distrust and verify. We cannot believe what the government presents at face value. In today’s politics, we must always meet the government with skepticism and do our own research.
