As Americans prepare to show their patriotic spirit amidst the woke culture of 2021, citizens are having to assess whether their flag display could be considered a hate crime. Yes, that is where our nation is right now. In Connecticut, a construction company decided to fly an American flag from their crane to commemorate fallen servicemen and women over Memorial Day weekend. The cable holding the flag had a loop on the end for construction purposes. At the time, they were in the midst of a project to build a parking garage for Central Connecticut State University.
Over the weekend, students complained about the flag, claiming that the loop on the end was actually a noose, which is apparently something they think racists would do. Rather than laugh off the snowflake mentality of the students, the university president ordered campus police to investigate the flag display. The campus police concluded that it was “not a noose but a standard steel cable loop hanging from a crane.” Pathetically, university president Zulma Toro then proceeded to apologize for the flag display anyway, just to make sure no one was offended by it. She called it “reckless and tone deaf behavior.” She promised to “work diligently to get it down,” but the school could not manage to find a licensed crane operator over a holiday weekend.
It should come as a surprise to no one that Toro’s sniveling and groveling did not grant her mercy from the woke mob. The president of the local NAACP chapter defied the construction company, the campus police, the university president, and all common sense, claiming that the loop on the cable was an actual noose. “No ifs, ands, or buts about it.”
As I see it, conservatives can learn two great lessons from this debacle. First of all, never ever bow to the will of the woke mob. Your surrender will not save you. Second of all, raise the American flag with pride. If the left is going to come for you no matter what, you might as well take your stand with an American flag in your hand. It’s time for conservatives to make the cultural marxists come after us on our terms.
