Multiple Sheriffs Quickly Announce “Won’t Enforce”
Washington, D.C.: “Within hours of being sworn in, the Illinois legislature quickly passed and Governor J.B. Pritzker signed a ban on so-called “assault style” firearms,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “The reality is, just like Democrat plans at the federal level, the list of banned items has no rhyme or reason besides ‘scary looks,’ will have no impact on the gang violence that plagues Chicago, and has not one shred of constitutional legitimacy according to the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
“Worse than many other bans on the manufacture or continued sale of such weapons, Illinois’s new plan demands registration of current owners as well! Already, at least two dozen county sheriffs have publicly announced they will not comply with or enforce this new blatantly unconstitutional law. But it’s going to take more than that! State law enforcement, no doubt with armed federal bureaucrats from Biden’s ATF, will let the sheriffs sit back and take charge of this themselves. We need a flood of litigants to bring about a judicial check on this madness.
