Washington, D.C.: House Democrats scheduled a vote for Thursday at 10:45 a.m. ET in an attempt to remove the ratification deadline on the long-expired Equal Rights Amendment.
“This vote proves two things: Democrats hate the rule of law itself. Also, they want so badly to cement abortion-on-demand at taxpayer expense into the U.S. Constitution,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “A vote to remove the ERA ratification deadline would obviously be a vote in ceremony only, since the deadline expired more than 40 years ago. The original resolution says so, the Supreme Court said so, and even the Office of Legal Counsel agreed just weeks ago.
“More frightening than Democrats’ disdain for rules, though, is their total disregard for protecting women and minorities. No matter how hard the left tries, particularly Hollywood mouthpieces, they can’t erase the fact that abortion in America is harmful to women. Abortion in America is rooted in a foundation of eugenics and racism. One needn’t look far to find that Margaret Sanger and her colleagues used abortion as a way to rid the world of what they considered ‘undesirable’ minorities. It was disgusting then and it’s disgusting now.
“Every member of the House should seriously consider what they will put their name to on Thursday morning’s vote on H.J. Res. 79. ERA equals taxpayer funded abortion-on-demand. That’s just irrefutable, and the only real reason radical Democrats continue to pursue ERA. It has nothing to do with protecting women and the left knows it.”
To members of the House of Representatives: Vote no on H.J. Res 79 this Thursday. Don’t pursue legislative folly. Don’t enable the radical anti-woman agenda of solidifying abortion and gender confusion into the Constitution. The American people, women in particular, will take note on how you vote on this issue.
