The Supreme Court of the United States
The Supreme Court has delivered a landmark win for parents — and a serious blow to the transgender agenda being pushed in our public schools.
On March 2nd, the Court ruled 6 to 3 in Mirabelli v. Bonta that California public schools cannot hide a child's gender transition from their parents. The ruling overturned a stay by the notoriously liberal Ninth Circuit that allowed a lower court injunction to stand. At the heart of the case is a California Department of Education policy that forced teachers to affirm a child's preferred gender identity — and to lie to parents if necessary.
The original lawsuit was brought by teachers who faced punishment if they refused to go along with that deception, joined by parents in the Escondido Union School District. What triggered the whole case was a young girl who had been indoctrinated into transgenderism by her school. Her parents had no idea until she attempted suicide.
Molly McCann Sanders, President of Eagle Forum Education and Legal, said it well: the Supreme Court is making clear that parents — not schools, teachers, nor government bureaucrats — are the ones closest to their children and best positioned to protect them. Every time the Court reaffirms that parents hold a fundamental right to direct their child's upbringing, it strengthens parental rights for all of us, in all fifty states.
This ruling also lands at a pivotal moment. The transgender movement that has captured our institutions is showing cracks. A New York jury awarded two million dollars in damages to a detransitioner named Fox Varian, who underwent a double mastectomy at sixteen despite serious psychiatric concerns that should have given any responsible clinician pause. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has now recommended delaying all gender-related surgeries until age nineteen. And the Society for Evidence Based Gender Medicine has been sounding the alarm for years that the these radical treatment guidelines are not grounded in solid science.
Let's be clear — this isn't medicine. It's ideology wearing a lab coat. And it has caused real, irreversible harm to real children. The Supreme Court is saying enough. Parents have rights and schools must be honest. The government does not get to come between a parent and their child.
