It’s kind of my version of ask me anything any time. Day or night, you can go ahead and text me. It’ll come right through to my phone. It doesn’t ring on my phone. It doesn’t even make a a loud notification. It just comes in silently. But I check it all the time so you can feel free to do that and check it out. So. Alright.
You know today’s program. We’re gonna check in at the latter part of the show with Paul Ingrassia and we’ll get an update on what’s happening down at the Trump Trial in New York City, there’s been a lot going on the last few weeks. Paul Ingrassia has been down there. If you’re not on his substack, you’re missing out on an important, important coverage of what’s going on there. We’ll also talk with Martha Byrne. Martha Byrne is also her name. Martha McMahon. That’s her husband’s name. She is an actress. And somebody who you talk about, weaponization of government. She’s had a front row seat. To see her husband a long time, a police officer, an investigator and then a a target of law enforcement. And she’s got this front row and and she’s been up in Washington DC meeting with a number of key Leaders, meeting with some other folks to see what’s going on and she’ll have part of her husband’s story and she’ll talk a little bit about how to understand what’s going on and what she’s seeing from her perch. So we’ll talk with her. In a few moments.
But first, what you need to know. Look, I I can’t let it slide by without talking about the case up in Manhattan. In New York City and the reason why is because it’s it’s lost on us how ridiculous it is and and I know what you’re thinking. How can we bring this back down to Earth, back to reality? Tell us exactly what’s going on. And it’s easy. Just ask Geraldo. Geraldo Rivera and I’m I’m not kidding, Geraldo Rivera, who is, you know, half the time, is crazy. He’s he’s, you know, he’s got his shirt off in his X profile picture with, like, a machete. He’s always carrying on.
But he also has about a 50 year record of being a reporter of being somebody who’s observed what’s going on. And again, I don’t agree with his politics, but he’s not really a liar. He just has different politics than I do.
Well, at least in this case, and in this case, here’s what Geraldo Rivera said on X: Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg has grossly inflated the criminal liability facing Donald Trump. At worst, this the trial should be a single misdemeanor, not 34 felonies. Each document in this document case does not amount to a separate crime. They are over acts to bring about a single alleged minor crime. That’s what’s missing on this.
This is a little bit like the documents case in Mar-a-lago. The documents case is about whether somebody took documents from the President’s office to his private home. Except the problem is the one person that’s allowed to take the documents, no matter what, is the president. If you are the President, United States, you have. All the power to classify to declassify, to unclassified, whatever word. You want any document related to your Presidency because you’re the power. It’s a little bit like the speaker of the House, the Speaker of the House is in charge of the House. The justices of the Supreme Court, there are nine of them. The Chief Justice, you could say they’re in charge of their authority.
Donald Trump, as president could take anything he wanted. You know, it’s lost on the on the country, the country is hearing about indictments in Florida over documents and and again,
the process is the punishment because the public is fed over and over a message of somebody did something wrong.
In the in the Maralago case, by the way, it’s so outrageous because not only did the the the guy have the right, the president had the right to take the documents, they couldn’t actually bring this case in Florida where they were required to do so. So they did all the work in DC with a friendly judge who let them get away with all these stupid statements and stupid rules and stupid decisions. And then they moved the whole case down to Florida. Read it into the record and and got the indictment down there.
That’s insanity.
So but back to New York. For 3 1/2 almost four weeks, and probably for 2 1/2, maybe three more weeks, we’ve watched the president of the United States, the former president, who is running for office. We’ve watched him in court every single day. He’s had to go into court by requirement, the judge said. You have to be here. You have to sit through court Monday, Tuesday. Thursday, Friday, every day. In fact, I think he gets a day off. Is it this week? He’s gonna go to his son’s graduation. I think his high school graduation is maybe later on this week. Could be next week. Donald Trump is gonna be excused for one day, but he has to sit through the these cases.
Sit through this case and the underlying charge is at most a misdemeanor. It has to do with bookkeeping and the lawyers and the accountants have all said, we’re the ones that filled out the paperwork. We’re the ones that told him he could do it that way, that he wasn’t even in the room, like having a grand theory where they said. Hey, let let’s as to that one thing, let let’s call it this and and that was President Trump, it never happened. So the underlying and here’s the here’s the reality. For 3 1/2 almost four weeks, you’ve had the most, you know, despicable, disgusting stuff, talked about and talked about Donald Trump. It’s all been alleged. Nobody’s proven it. Nobody went to court. Nobody. But it’s all alleged. But trust me, when you go home from a courthouse and you have to talk to your family about the alleged etcetera, etcetera, and you have Stormy Daniels and you have all this stuff. It’s horrendous, and remember it’s. Granted, in other words, the process is the punishment. The process of putting someone through. This is the punishment which you know, at this point you have to say Donald Trump is one of the toughest hombres ever because normal people would have by now said, you know –
I just had lunch. I had lunch earlier today with a guy, and I won’t say who it was. But we’re talking about his old boss, who was an elected. Official and and that young man was telling me about how there was a period of time where they went through such scrutiny, such intensity by the media and this young man was saying I just kept looking up and I kept seeing they were lying about the boss. They they were making it up and what they would make up the story. It would be terrible stories. Personal, salacious. All this stuff then they would call and they would say do you wanna confirm or deny? And then they’d write the story that would say salacious, salacious, salacious, and then they’d say so and so denied it on behalf of his boss.
And this young man was saying it was so horrendous, so insane, and that guy is no longer in office. He made a decision to not be in office. Lots of reasons, and I don’t judge any of them, but there’s Donald Trump still fighting away. So here’s the thing.
Weaponization of government is being used against we the people in ways that they may even win the cases. You may even win the case. Donald Trump may win this case in New York. City and it doesn’t matter because the process is the punishment and the other side knows it.
I was with Jeff Clark. He’s been in here. He’s been on the show. I was telling a friend of mine, Jeff Clark. If you ask someone on on, let’s say, December 1st, 2020 before all this stuff happened in January of 2021, January 6 and all if you just asked someone on that date. Anyone. What’s this? What’s Jeff Clark’s reputation? They would say. Massive brain. Incredible lawyer. Good guy, every One. And then because he represented Donald Trump, he’s been targeted. And if you talk to Jeff, he’s he’s in, he’s in pretty darn good spirits, all things considered. He’s got bar complaints. He’s got lawsuits against him, he has to go to appellate court. He has to address innumerable times. He has to address rulings that are either going against him or could go against him. He spent 10s of thousands of dollars. Probably hundreds of thousands of dollars on his defense, and his kids have had a a tough time of it. His wife has had a tough time. He’s had a tough time of it.
The weaponization of government is not just they don’t just win. They wear you down. And everybody needs to be completely clear eyed about it.
And the last thing I’ll say about this, I’ve been saying this for a couple of days. If you think that there’s gonna be, say, a new president or there’s gonna be a new a new Senate and there’s gonna be new leadership. If you think that the new people that get into power should hold back, not on revenge. I don’t. Nobody wants revenge.
I want accountability. I want the people that have done these things to others to be held accountable. And you can’t say ohh well, let’s just move on. You can’t have a system where one set of people Is destroyed, damaged, beaten down. Had it had the government weaponized against them.
And then when the other, when the others are now to be held accountable, they say let’s, let’s not let’s not deal with the past. Let let’s move forward.
That can’t be a system in the long run. That works because pretty quickly people realize it’s not worth being on any side other than on the side of what the regime wants. And that’s what you’re seeing from a lot of folks. So.
The weaponization of government is out of control. Geraldo Rivera is right. Don’t say that too often. He’s right in this case, and the case up against Donald Trump is a terrible injustice, not just to him, but to the whole country.
So we’ll take a break when we come back, we will talk with our friend Martha Byrne about her situation, her families being impacted by weaponization of government, and a whole lot more. You’re tuned into Ed Martin here on the Pro America Report. We’ll be Back in a moment.
