“Gays Against Groomers” Censored Economically for Challenging Leftist Narrative
Washington, D.C.: Jaimee Michell, who founded the group “Gays Against Groomers,” was notified by PayPal and Venmo this week that her group’s accounts had been permanently suspended.
“Cancel culture is making huge logical circles in pursuit of its own tail as the leftwing Narrative Machine struggles to keep up with the whims of the day,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “The Narrative Machine is turning the sting of cancel culture against groups who may once have been close allies, but as they push the envelope, and degrade public morality as fast as possible, even liberal groups are left in the dust. The result is a new form of censorship that should terrify every American.
“I’ve talked of it before, but this week should serve as a reminder that economic and financial censorship are absolutely tools that the left is willing to use to silence their opposition. When Chase Bank is willing to cancel conservative groups they don’t like and PayPal sees fit to censor LGBT groups who disagree with the latest progressive fad, every American should take note. We must prepare ourselves to fight both cultural and economic battles against the Narrative Machine. Beware economic censorship!”
