Adam Andrzejewski/Open the Books Column Canceled For Fauci Transparency
Washington, D.C.: “Forbes has crossed a line of censorship they may never come back from,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “They have removed from their national platform a non-profit, non-partisan government watchdog focused on transparency. Why? For doing their job well.”
Open the Books founder and CEO Adam Andrzejewski has provided a column to Forbes for eight years. In fact, Andrzejewski estimates his more than 200 columns have produced a quarter million words of research. His latest columns broke the news that Dr. Fauci is the highest paid federal employee — making even more than the President of the United States.
Martin continued, “Despite Fauci’s outrage and insistence to Congress that his paychecks are publicly available, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) didn’t like when Open the Books found and published them. In fact, what the not-so-good doctor claims are public records show that Dr. Fauci’s household income (together with his wife) is more than thirteen times the national average household. It’s not a crime to be wealthy, but it absolutely should raise suspicion when an employee of the taxpayers dodges the public and even Congress on questions about his finances. At the very least, it deserves the attention of watchdog groups and journalists alike.”
“Forbes, however, has chosen to be complicit with shadowy Big Government bureaucracy,” Martin concluded. “They have bowed to the pressure of NIH and canceled the long-standing column of a true public servant.
“It’s time for all good citizens and all remaining journalists of integrity to gather in defense of Open the Books and organizations like them. All we need to do is look to our northern neighbors to see the result of letting the powerful operate unchecked in the shadows. We must have transparency to preserve our liberty. We must open the books!”
