Washington, D.C.: The Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission appear close to launching investigations into Google, Facebook, Amazon, and other “Big Tech” companies. Antitrust moves against these tech monopolies could come swiftly and with great force, as Big Tech faces scrutiny from all over the political spectrum.
“Americans’ concerns over abuse of their free speech and privacy are clearly justified,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “We have more than enough confirmation on the troubling practices of these tech giants to warrant investigations. The online purchases, browsing, social interaction, and communication habits of all Americans are collected en masse without their knowledge. This information should not be shared and used for political gain.
“It’s high time the DOJ and FTC began investigations into the unsupervised monopolies of Big Tech.”
