St. Louis, MO: The newly sworn-in Democratic majority in the Virginia General Assembly are voting today on ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. This is nothing more than a show-vote. In case you missed it, Phyllis Schlafly Eagles research staff exposed pro-ERA bias in the office of U.S. Archivist David Ferriero in our nearly year-long investigation. This conflict led to an Office of Legal Counsel opinion rendering the 40-year-old ERA as expired and not renewable.
“The Department of Justice has made one thing clear: ERA supporters must go back and start over if they want to ratify the amendment,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “ERA is legally expired and the issue is not renewable by a vote of Congress. Virginia’s votes today are absolutely pointless. They are nothing more than lip service for the radical left.”
