Senate must stop this weaponizing of civil rights.
Washington, D.C.: “The U.S. House of Representatives last week passed the so-called Equality Act (H.R. 5), leaving the Senate now as the only body that can save America from this disastrous legislation,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “This bill would devastate women’s civil rights, freedom of Religion, and business and healthcare in America. Despite the radical left’s overtures of fairness and anti-discrimination protections for all Americans, this bill would weaponize civil rights and become the tool by which government discriminates against whomever they choose.
“The Equality Act would set up a system by which every individual and organization in America would be mandated to abide by the conscience of federal government or face financial punishment and incarceration. This legislation is toxic and will result in more loss of freedom than we have witnessed in our entire national story. The Senate must stop this deadly bill!”
Phyllis Schlafly Eagles has called upon all of its members and all Americans to contact their two senators now to vote NO on the Equality Act. Read the Action Alert here.
