Washington, D.C.: “In the last few days, numerous Trump affiliates have been raided or served subpoenas as the DOJ has expanded their political investigation into conservative leaders,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “These subpoenas reveal the federal government’s new investigative interest: Trump’s political fundraising post 2020-election.
“This escalation of political lawfare against top conservatives comes as no surprise. In fact, it comes not even a week after Joe Biden labeled his predecessor and half of America as a ‘threat’ to our nation. This blatant wielding of government power against political enemies is only going to get worse.”
Martin concluded, “The Department of Justice is attacking the very heart of our constitutionally protected activities. This unprecedented misconduct must be met with a severe crackdown and accountability from the new Congress in January. Time to restore checks and balances; time to stop the lawfare.”
