Washington, D.C.: Nancy Pelosi’s House majority is in a shambles, grasping for victories only to find failure. This morning they voted to remove the 1970s Equal Rights Amendment ratification deadline (H.J.Res. 79), but this show vote is DOA in the Senate.
“Democrats and RINOs may celebrate, but they are steaming ahead full power at a brick wall,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “First, this amendment is legally closed — the ratification deadline passed in 1979. The Supreme Court and the Office of Legal Counsel have both recognized this. Second, the truth is that ERA has, frankly, nothing to do with womens’ rights and legal protections. Anyone who says otherwise is simply twisting facts to meet their agenda.
“Another brick wall Democrats met today on the House floor is the unwavering boldness and sharp logic of Rep. Doug Collins of Georgia. His closing remarks today were authentic and truthful.
“We fully expect the Senate to table this illegitimate resolution. Whether by moral or legal standards, this legislative farce can only be considered an attack on the Constitution and We the People. ”
