Bans, Red Flag Laws Show True Colors of Packing Court and Changing Congress
Washington, D.C.: “President Biden and the House Judiciary Committee have launched a renewed assault on the right of Americans to defend themselves, but the commentary behind the proposals adds an additional layer of danger to the state of our nation,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “President Biden took to the screen to suggest renewing the so-called “assault weapons” ban along with a host of proposals that offend the 2nd Amendment. The House Judiciary Committee also approved, on party lines, the ironically named ‘Protecting our Kids’ Act (H.R. 7910). The irony is found in that most of the proposed measures would’ve had no bearing on the Uvalde school shooting.”
During his address, President Biden reminded the nation of his opinion that the 2nd Amendment is “not absolute.” During the Judiciary Committee’s hearing on H.R. 7910, New York’s Rep. Mondaire Jones said that “if the filibuster stops us, we will abolish it. If the Supreme Court objects, we will expand it. … Whatever it takes.”
“As we sift through these obvious power grabs by government to disarm law-abiding citizens, an even greater picture of disrespect for the Constitution comes into view,” Martin continued. “Our Constitution and the sacred systems of our representative republic are all on the line. This attack on gun rights isn’t just about the 2nd Amendment, it reveals the left’s hatred of our checks and balances. What they’re after has nothing to do with keeping our children and communities safe just like they have no desire to preserve our democratic system. They want absolute control for the state, something only achievable when the populace is powerless to stop them.
“This is exactly what the opening salvo of tyranny looks like. ‘We must take your means of self defense so we can keep you safe’ say the authoritarians. America cannot allow this push for total control to continue. Losing our right to self defense will quickly be followed by losing our right to self government, mark my words! Stop the radical, anti-Constitution policies now. Not only our gun rights, but our very existence as a free nation depend on it.”
