The following is a transcript from the Pro America Report.
Welcome, Welcome, welcome. It’s Ed Martin here on the Pro America Report. Great to be together. As always, I had a a day or two where I’ve been on the move and on the run. What I’m going to talk to you about on the details of what is happening with the HoyaGate Hoyagate, we call it. So. And we’ll get to that in a moment.
But please, listen. Wait. Make sure you listen to this. The 4th segment of today’s program, because I really want to talk to John Schlafly. We’ve got Bensman, Todd Bensman on with us and all but the 4th segment is about our friend Jeff Clark. One of the most honorable guys I’ve met, one of the smartest darn smartest lawyers I’ve seen. Just extraordinary. And he is going to have to go before the DC bar and and what I think is a not just a kangaroo court, it’s an insult to the to the, the the to the legal community that this is happening to a guy like him. But he’s got to go there. There’s a bar complaint against him. He’s got to deal with it next week, so I’m going to talk about that at the 4th segment. I hope you’ll come along there and and pay attention to that so but but first.
Let’s get to HoyaGate. HoyaGate is the situation here where Deroy Murdock exposed how Georgetown universities, especially through those School of Law, has been running this partisan. He called it viciously partisan effort to try to get Trump and stop Trump. And way beyond what’s appropriate and what should happen when you’re talking about a nonprofit tax deductible Catholic, Jesuit Catholic school. And so, you know, Deroy Murdock named names. Rosa Brooks is a Dean there. Mary McCord is running an institute there. And on through a list of other people.
Well, when that news hit on Monday, I can tell you everybody was paying attention. Everybody was saying, what is the deal here? At the highest levels, people are like what is going on? I don’t know for sure, but I have some reports. I can’t say it’s 100% ’cause I’ve only got one source. I don’t like to. I’m not like the fake news where you get one source that you like and you say, therefore you know everything. I don’t know for sure, but I will tell you that the the source that I have. Tells me that the Georgetown University they’re pretty concerned. They’re worried about it. They are not happy with what is going on and not happy with what they’re seeing. And so all very interesting.
But here’s the next step. Here’s what happens. This is why it’s so important that the Republicans won the House a few years ago.
Congressman Pete Sessions, who I know very well and I consider him a friend. Back when I ran for Congress in 2010, he was one of the earliest people who supported me. He’s from Texas, from down around Waco. He’s born and raised in Waco. And then that his district is all around Waco. And so he saw this article by Deroy Murdock, and he put out, he decided, well, I’m a chairman of the Subcommittee of Oversight. And my oversight Pertains to federal employees and what’s happening in the federal government. So I’m going to send a letter over to Georgetown and say, hey, guys, give me some information on this.
And so his letter went out yesterday, Thursday and boy, oh, boy, got some attention because here’s what he basically said. I see specifics. Of your personnel. In in the print in in, in print speaking to the Washington Post, speaking to NBC News, talking about the things they’re doing, they sound way beyond what is supposed to happen At a university like this, so if you’re doing this or sponsoring it, let’s talk about it. Transition Integrity Project is one that was back in 2020. There’s an effort to to stop Trump to, to stop Trump. If Trump won, they said we have to stop Trump from having control of the military. What? That that’s what our Constitution demands. And so what’s what Pete Sessions said was I, I want to see what you’re up to. I have a I have a.
My oversight says I can ask questions, especially about some of these people that are that are that are are touching on the the issues that we’re talking about in, in their capacity either as a. A current employee or a recent Employee using a non partisan using the the you know Georgetown University as that Hoya Gate article from Deroy Murdock showed they received close to a billion dollars. I think it’s $750 million in the last three or four years. So if you’re getting all that money, you’re tax deductible, you’re supposed to be nonpartisan. What are you doing?
So this is a thread pulling exercise and look, it may be. There’s there’s nothing to see here. It it might well be that there is nothing to see, but we ought to get to the bottom of it. And I have good confidence. I have confidence that Pete Sessions has decided he’s going to. So that’s a big deal. And as one of the journalists who’s writing on this now said to me, uh oh, if you’re Georgetown. The general counsel of Georgetown. You’re the the the President of Georgetown, board of directors. You’re not going to be quite as loose when you’re seeing that a congressman and his committee is asking what are you up to? And so if the People that did something wrong were shredding. The shredder stopped. Because that’s notice, that’s notice that we’re looking at it and you don’t want to go cross that. So it’s very good news. I I I was very excited.
You know, I had one of my colleagues in the in the sort of conservative movement said. Ohh, another letter. We’ll see. First of all, a letter will have a big impact if you frame the letter right. And I saw what he wrote. What Pete Sessions and his staff wrote, if you frame the letter right, you you got a a way to make a lot of people pay attention, they’re gonna pay attention in a way that you know that that they weren’t before and that you might not expect.
So while the letter is not an investigation, it’s not a hearing yet. It’s it’s important. It’s an important start. It’s an important start and very cool. It’s very cool and I think it’s going to be very, very interesting to see where it goes and and and you know. We’ve got hearings on things like impeachment and obviously this week that Bobulinski character was really good at shining a light on things.
But. A lot of times it’s just making a little bit of progress to pull apart these, you know, truly these conspiracies to try to change the government, to try to dominate the government. I mean, if if what the Transition Integrity Project claimed that they did, if that really happened. A lot of the aspects of what they were talking about ended up happening both with the Russia hoax. As well as with things like January 6th. And when the overlap of people that is undertaking this grand conspiracy to stop Trump includes The people who were fortifying the election in 2020, it at least makes you say, wait a second. Is there more here? Is there more we can get to the bottom of and?
And. As a a friend of mine said, hopefully it modifies behavior going forward because I always tell people when I ran the election board and the election board in Saint Louis, it was 2005 and six. One of the things I learned is that you, you have to do 2 things. You have to do 2 things with any election and election Board.
One is run a competent election, but that’s actually harder than you think. Because it’s a complex system that has to be put in place, but only three times a year, maybe 4 times a year. If you have a municipal election, you might have a municipal election with a primary and a general municipal election. Then you have a A, you know, a a major election. Four could be 5 times a year, but usually it’s less than five where you actually do what you’re supposed to do. So you gotta prepare for game day, but you only have four games a year. That’s hard to do. It’s hard to practice an election too. You can’t really do it. Now. Sometimes you get, like special elections and you can practice how some of the things work, but you get, so you gotta get the people, you gotta get the systems, you gotta make it run well. It’s gotta have integrity. It’s gotta be protected.
But the second thing you have to do is. You have to speak publicly about the importance of protecting the elections and then the elections are you can’t steal them if you try, we’re gonna stop you. And that people have confidence because it’s a election, voting in America, it’s not mandatory. And so to in order to get participation, you have to make people believe. In what you’re doing, so you gotta believe you gotta be an advocate. You gotta do things, go to the communities and say, hey, hey, it’s worth it. It’s worth it. Come out and and do this. It’s not gonna get stolen. Your vote is going to count. You know do this. And that’s what you’ve got to do.
Well, when you talk about abuse by Georgetown University of the public square, of public dollars, of their role, of their perhaps their security clearances, whatever it is. By talking about it publicly, hopefully you can stop. Some of the future conduct. If they were doing things wrong in the past, you also want to stop them from doing in the future, not just hold them accountable. I hope you I hope they, I hope Pete Sessions gets to the bottom of what they did. But as they get to The bottom what they did Looks like game planning for a coup. And using the federal dollars and using a a nonprofit to do it. Very bad. But in addition to getting to the bottom of it, you gotta stop it happen in the future because there may or may not be a Republican president next. But if there is, they’ve signaled that they’re going to use these apparatus, these people, in ways that are, if not inappropriate, they’re suspect, and we ought to get to the bottom of it.
