Twitter Announces New “Crisis Misinformation Policy”
Washington, D.C.: “It’s only been two weeks since the announcement of the Department of Homeland Security’s ‘Disinformation Governance Board,’ but the rollout was so embarrassing and the backlash so great that the whole program’s been put on hold,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “In fact, even the liberal media was forced to acknowledge just how bad this went over with the American people. Twitter is responding, however, announcing Thursday their own ‘crisis misinformation policy’ to put warnings on what they deem as viral misinformation.”
“This move won’t fly with the American public,” Martin continued. “We’re all sick and tired of Facebook’s Covid warning labels and a host of other shadow banning that is now widely accepted as truth in our social media world. If Twitter is going to pick up the slack from the failed ‘Ministry of Truth,’ they ought to be prepared for the backlash that will absolutely come their way.
“After a very brief splash into the public’s view, Biden’s would-be Truth Czar, Nina Jankowicz, resigned quickly and in shame this week as even the Washington Post was forced to call out her ‘flamboyant TikTok presence.’ Her wild, on-camera antics even earned her the nickname ‘Scary Poppins,’ courtesy of Jack Posobiec and his millions of followers.”
Martin concluded, “Americans are sick and tired of this assault on their basic freedom of speech. It’s time for Congress to take action against Big Tech behemoths and shut down their censorship just like public opinion shut down the short-lived Disinformation Governance Board.”
