Washington, D.C.: Nancy Pelosi’s Democratic House has been pushing the Equality Act (H.R. 5) since their first days in power. It is slated to come to the House floor next week. This proposed law would add sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes under the Civil Rights Act and the Fair Housing Act.
“This bill would decimate the First Amendment,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Freedom of conscience, religious liberty, and free speech itself are at risk. The federal government would assume a new power to punish those who disagree with left wing social engineering. Congress must vote down this dangerous bill when it comes to the House floor next week.
“H.R. 5 would also drastically affect the medical industry, politicizing medicine and forcing doctors into the box of politically correctness. Congress must not foist this so-called Equality Act on our nation. It would result in a historic loss of liberty, privacy, and true equality for all Americans. Representatives in the House should vote no on H.R. 5!”
