Washington, D.C.: “Progressive Caucus members are sputtering and spinning to blame this week’s letter-release fiasco on staff, but the truth isn’t hard to see,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “The letter itself was actually written fairly well, asking what most normal Americans want: a de-escalation of the war between Russia and Ukraine and an end to the escalations that threaten to involve the globe in military conflict. De-escalation and diplomacy should be the goal! Only the global elites who profit from suffering are interested in a world war.
“That fact should have us all wondering just why exactly this letter wasn’t released in the first place or released and then retracted — whatever the story is at the moment. The real story here, and as Congressman Tom Massie (KY-4) said “the real Washington,” is that there’s a force powerful enough to command nearly a third of a huge Congressional caucus of the majority party at such a rapid speed. The swamp and their power is on display, and it’s terrifying.
“Americans support this position of peace and an end to war in Europe! Apparently a big chunk of even progressive Democrats do as well. The question we should all be asking is who told them no? Who wants to provoke violent conflict that’s half a world away. To answer that we must follow the money, and follow the power. It must be someone (or someones) terribly powerful to make so many Democrats shy away from a popular polling position in an election year.”
