Washington, D.C.: The House of Representatives voted to officially codify the impeachment investigation into President Donald J. Trump by a vote of 232-196.
“This is a day of national shame as the Nancy Pelosi Witch Hunt is allowed to move forward,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Democrats are bitter over a lost election. Their hope for the future is built on the most uninspiring field of candidates who are running to be ‘Communist In Chief.’ This use of the House’s power is a complete political sham and an assault on our republic itself.
“GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy said it best this morning when he decried this vote as ‘an attempt not only to undo the last election, it is an attempt to influence the next one as well. … This is a Democratic permanent campaign to undermine [President Trump’s] legitimacy.’
“Nancy Pelosi’s house is in a shambles,” Martin closed. “They have produced more subpoenas than laws, operated with zero transparency, and have made our government a political circus.”
