Democrats are using kids as political hostages.
Washington, D.C.: Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin issued the following statement:
“Education is becoming the defining issue in America’s fight to move forward from the COVID-19 pandemic. We must reopen schools this fall, but Democrats are bent on using children as political hostages in their bid for power. People are looking to government leaders now to move forward and make the best decisions for American families, not their own vendetta against President Trump. Any reasonable look at both American and European studies shows that school closures were among the least effective measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. Opening them this fall will not create the chaos Democrat-backed teachers unions would like us to believe.
“Our response to this pandemic is a great time to dramatically increase parental control in education and give families options for their children’s schooling. Now is the perfect time for all levels of government, starting with Congress, to pass school choice measures that empower parents to make the best decisions for their kids.
“It’s time to stop listening to fear mongering and political posturing from the statist ‘progressives’ in government. Reopen the schools! Give more educational power to parents! Get America moving forward again.”
