Washington, D.C.: “Pelosi’s pet Select Committee on the January 6 protests has had a string of embarrassing days of public hearings,” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin. “Yesterday’s spectacle, however, may take the prize for the most embarrassing.”
“Attempting to take the media by storm,” Martin continued, “the J6 committee announced a surprise hearing with a secret guest, announced only until the supposed bombshell witness took the stand. The ‘bombshell testimony,’ however, belly flopped before it could even hit the news cycle. After Liz Cheney’s playing up of her credentials as an aide to Trump’s Chief of Staff, Cassidy Hutchinson delivered two hours of testimony free from corroboration or apparently facts!
“She laid down absolutely wild stories about interactions and conversations for which she wasn’t even present. Any serious court would label this ‘hearsay’ in a heartbeat, but we know by now the J6 committee isn’t taking their investigative role seriously. Within hours, paper trails and even the United States Secret Service were offering to deliver sworn testimony disproving much of what Ms. Hutchinson had just laid out.”
Martin concluded, “Truly, yesterday was one of the most stunning failures this partisan witch hunt has produced. It’s sad that they won’t investigate real mysteries around the January 6 capitol protests, like the sudden and unexplained death of former Senate Sergeant At Arms Michael Stenger, who was found dead Monday. Perhaps the committee’s so-called Republicans ought to look into real questions and corruption instead of putting irrelevant aides with contradictory testimony on television.”
