The nation watched in horror as Biden and his congressional Democrat allies made a full court press to pass H.R. 1, the so-called “For the People Act,” which would require all 50 states to implement fraud-prone election procedures. The bill would stop the proper authentication of ballots, thereby permitting millions of unverified mail-in ballots to decide elections.
This misbegotten legislation passed the House without a single Republican voting for it, while senior Democrat Rep. Bennie Thompson voted against it. He explained that his constituents were opposed, and as he put it, “I always vote in the interest of my constituents.” Sen. Lindsey Graham observed, “In my view, [H.R. 1] is the biggest power grab in the history of the country. It mandates ballot harvesting, no voter ID. It does away with the states being able to redistrict when you have population shifts.” However, the coalition against H.R. 1 is far larger than just Republican lawmakers and a few gutsy Democrats. Even the left-leaning New York Times conceded H.R. 1 “is poorly matched to the moment” because it “attempts to accomplish more than is currently feasible.” Despite lacking the necessary 60 votes to proceed, Sen. Chuck Schumer forced the 50-50 Senate to vote on the Senate version, S. 1, perhaps to try again later.
If even the New York Times is willing to admit that H.R. 1 is “poorly matched to the moment,” conservatives should be wondering why Democrats chose this particular moment to push this particular bill. After all, these huge pieces of legislation don’t come by accident. You can bet that a gaggle of high-paid political strategists agonized over how Democrats could most effectively utilize their majorities in Congress.
The answer is election integrity. Thanks to Donald Trump, more conservatives than ever before are willing to expend grassroots energy to secure future elections against fraud and irregularities. Democrats know they cannot win against the grassroots at the state and local levels, so they try to dictate from the Swamp. Don’t let them silence your voice. Continue the steady march to end the threat of election fraud. H.R. 1 is proof that the left sees our progress. Keep it up.
