Leftists Are Forcing a Supreme Court Confirmation Showdown
Washington, D.C.: After months of whispers and rumors, it seems the leftists have finally managed to force Justice Breyer to retire, paving the way for Joe Biden’s first nomination to the Supreme Court.
“Apparently Democrats think they can ride a Senate confirmation battle to victory in the midterms,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “They seem to think they’re about to lose the Senate this November and they need a legislative drama of epic proportions to keep or increase their hold on Congress’s upper chamber. The truth is, they have already shot themselves in both feet before this battle even begins!
“First of all, the radical left may be prepared to set aside their recent horrible treatment of Democrat Senators Manchin and Sinema, but the senators are not likely to have forgotten already. Sinema and Manchin have stopped a host of horrendous leftwing policy in Congress and the upcoming nomination promises to be no less toxic.”
“Second, Democrats seems to think they can repeat the GOP’s 2018 Senate gains by pushing forward this replacement of Justice Breyer,” Martin concluded. “This move is likely to backfire. Democrats’ astonishing political assassination of Brett Kavanaugh caused a major electoral reaction from voters. Biden has already essentially promised that his first nomination to the High Court will be toxically political from the start.
“I suspect that this Supreme Court showdown in the Senate will result in angry, unrepresented voters stripping Democrats of their control in both houses of Congress.”
