Auditing Government Should Be A Habit, Not a Point of Contention
Washington, D.C.: “I’m sure there are many points of contention in the House after a drawn-out battle to elect Kevin McCarthy speaker, but we cannot let bad blood or rivalry drag down needed legislative priorities!” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin. “Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO-3) recently introduced the Exposing Lewd Outlays for social Networking companies Act (ELON Act), which would place a one-year moratorium on all government payments to social media companies and audit all such past payments.
“In light of the leaked (and verified) documents in Twitter Files, such a moratorium and audit is quite literally the most commonsense first action to take! When it comes to government, transparency and accountability should always be the first priorities. Despite that truth, only nine fellow members of of the House cosponsored Boebert’s bill. Are there really only nine who will support such a basic first action to take in cleaning up corruption and censorship collusion?
“To be sure, the dynamics of the House ebb and flow very quickly, and there may be plans for other such bills — but I think the American people would like to see some serious unity in the purpose of returning power to the people. The House needs to start delivering on some serious promises made to America. Show votes and past political moves aside, we need unity in the urgency of Congress taking action against the actions of Big Government, particularly in holding the unelected Administrative State accountable.”
