Pro-Family Members of Congress Should Vote Against Drafting Our Daughters
Washington, D.C.: The 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) currently being considered in the House would, for the first time, demand that American wives, mothers, and daughters register for the military draft.
“Leftists with a radical social agenda have pushed this idea of drafting women for decades,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “Despite their best tries, the concept has been soundly rejected by Americans of every political party. Women have always and will continue to serve honorably in the United States Military, propelling some of our most advanced logistics and technology solutions.
“But the plain and simple fact is this: our armed forces are NOT a breeding ground for social experimentation and radical ideas. Drafting women and sending them to front-line combat roles just the same as men is a horrific and reckless idea. What’s terrifying now is that many Republicans in Congress, even solid conservatives, are caving to the political pressure of the left, signaling their support for this NDAA despite the women’s Selective Service requirement.”
Martin concluded, “Every single Member who considers themselves pro-family, pro-military, and pro-common sense should oppose the 2022 NDAA. Forces are already working to erode our military readiness through political correctness — don’t force our daughters to sign up for the draft! It’s time for every voter to sound off! Every Member of Congress, especially Republicans, should oppose final passage of NDAA.”
