Grumblings Across Political Spectrum as Apple Threatens Twitter
Washington, D.C.: “I talk often of the Narrative Machine, a vicious combination of Big Tech, Big Media, and Big Government that tries to instill the unified vision of what people can hear, what they can say, and what they can do,” said Phyllis Schlafly Eagles President Ed Martin. “Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter has opened a massive liability for Big Tech and their attempt to control the speech of millions of Americans.
“Big Tech and Big Media are circling the wagons to protect their platforms against a wild and freedom-fostering intruder, but their true colors are showing in the meantime. Musk announced this week that Apple has pulled nearly all of its ads from Twitter, a sharp change from their spot as the #1 advertiser in the first quarter of 2022. And in case that message isn’t strong enough, Apple has threatened to remove Twitter from its mobile App Store — a massive blow to any platform based on the number of iPhone users worldwide.
“This is a huge strike, and likely only the first, from the flailing Big Tech overlords as they attempt to retake ground against their sacred and now-lost ‘Blue Check’ platform. If they’re trying to convince us that Elon Musk really is standing up for Free Speech, they’re doing a great job. This kind of de-platforming of an entire platform is something that rightly, as Gov. Ron DeSantis suggested, may warrant investigation.”
