Washington, D.C.: “New York Governor Kathy Hochul is pressuring credit card companies to crack down on gun purchases,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “This economic backdoor to restricting Americans’ exercise of their rights is nothing new, but it is likely about to get louder than ever before.
“The devil in the left’s awful policy pushes is always in the half-measures that we let slide through. I think most Second Amendment advocates agree that a nationwide gun ban and confiscation is just not likely or even feasible, no matter how badly the radical Biden Administration wants it, but if they can sneakily erode the access and affordability of firearms, the slow game will get them to their eventual goal. That’s why we must be on guard!
“New York Governor Kathy Hochul is revealing a telling playbook of the left that we’ve already seen with their sacred Covid vaccine: getting private business to do their dirty work. Why mandate vaccines when massive employers can be convinced to do it for you? Why ban guns and ammo legislatively when you can get the credit card companies to just stop making those charges or flag the purchases as suspicious? This subtle, sinister part of the left’s authoritarian agenda must be met with our full vigor of response. Americans must treat these actions like the outright assaults on our Constitution that they truly are.”
