Washington, D.C.: “At the close of this Supreme Court term, constitutional advocates are nothing less than thrilled,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “The next term is also shaping up to be a doozy, as the Court just accepted a historic case on state control of elections.
“Despite our celebration of many victories this spring, let me issue a warning to all constitutional advocates and grassroots conservatives: beware the lame duck legislators and black-robed lawmakers!
“Courts are moving already across the nation to block state trigger laws and many legitimate measures in response to the overturn of Roe. The Court’s opinion in Dobbs clearly turned this issue back to the people and their representatives, but we must be ready to face a host of judicial activists at the state and federal levels. They will stop at nothing to hamstring the states in their moves to defend life.”
Martin continued, “Be on guard also for the lame duck Congress! Biden has already announced he favors the Senate ending the filibuster in order to codify abortion rights at the national level. With Democrats and RINOs alike on the chopping block this November, we must be on watch against the lame duck actions of outgoing Senators.
“As we celebrate in the Supreme Court’s respect for the Constitution this term, may we remember that the battle to defend life and strengthen the American family has only begun!”
